Brewster’s Blog

As we near the end of another busy wedding season, we want to share some of our favorite venues that we’ve been able to visit over the last year! Not only does Brewster’s host rehearsal dinners and private bachelor/bachelorette parties, we also cater weddings and rehearsal festivities as well. However, we can’t forget about the beautiful area we live in and how many different spots there are to say, “I Do” in NW Indiana and SW Michigan. We surveyed our staff and asked them to choose their personal favorites or venues they’d pick if they were planning a wedding. Feel free to add some suggestions to our list! Cheers 😃

1. Warren Hall – Journeyman Distillery – Three Oaks, Michigan: We don’t usually play favorites, but this may be the most popular spot we’ve visited. The space is huge and is absolutely perfect for larger weddings. It’s not too rustic…not too modern. These days, everyone wants to customize their experiences and Journeyman is the perfect venue for those who have their own ideas in mind.

2. The Allure – La Porte, Indiana: While outdoor weddings are great, the weather in our area is rather unpredictable. It certainly makes event planning a challenge from time to time. The best part about this place? Rain or shine, your wedding will be perfect. This space was redesigned in 2009, and it’s been booked solid ever since. What was once an abandoned 1920’s building is now a beautiful, modern and elegant event space, perfect for weddings throughout the year. The attention to detail reflects an old-world elegance that can’t be replicated.

3. Friendship Botanic Gardens – Michigan City, Indiana: The people at Friendship Gardens are dedicated to creating a beautiful wedding experience from start to finish. With over 100 acres of property, there are multiple venues within this space to accommodate a variety of tastes. Our personal favorite area? The Rose Garden, which can accommodate up to 200 guests. The smaller gardens, like the Tea House Garden, are perfect for low-key and intimate weddings of 75 guests. However, they also offer gardens that can accommodate up to 600 guests, like the Chinese Bridge Garden and the Woodland Meadow. Even if you’re not looking for a wedding venue, you should check this place out (between May-October) as it’s got so many gorgeous spots within their property. (PS: We think September is the best time to visit!

4. Hidden Vineyard Wedding Barn – Berrien Springs, Michigan: Okay, we admit it. We’re suckers for restored barns with modern features. Can you blame us? This spot is seriously amazing. Not only is Hidden Vineyard located on an actual working farm (that’s been around since the late 1800’s), but the venue’s picturesque backdrop is perfect for wedding photos. The barn boasts a space of nearly 2,500 feet and accommodates both wedding parties with ample space for getting ready on the big day. They’ve got catering prep areas with updated amenities throughout the barn and can hold about 150 people in the colder months, while accommodating closer to 200 people in the summer. Again, even if you’re not necessarily looking for a wedding venue, you’ve got to stop in on your next visit to Harbor Country and check out this vintage gem.

5. Uptown Center For The Performing Arts – Michigan City, Indiana: If you’re looking for a space that’s reminiscent of an elegant ballroom, this is the place for you. This restored 1867 ballroom boasts a ballroom, balcony, courtyards, multiple bridal suites and cathedral-style ceilings. Simply put: it’s beautiful. Located in Michigan City’s Uptown Arts District, this event venue can hold up to 300 people and you’re able to pick and customize wedding packages to fit whatever you’d like for the big day. They even offer in-house catering, whether it’s simple appetizers or a full meal, they’ve got you covered. The modern lighting within the antique details of this ballroom perfectly compliment weddings of all types.
